Read Robert Kourik's Blog
to learn more about his philosophy
of Eccentric Gardening !
  In his own words:
.   "Everyone has the seed of an eccentric garden deep inside waiting to bloom."

A wire cage around a newly-planted Strawberry Tree
(Arbutus unedo).
"I've use cylinders of wire to both keep deer away
from the newly-planted tree and as an armature for
my own little eccentricities."

ROBERT KOURIK

   Roots Demystified:
Change Your Garden Habits to Help Roots Thrive

Most of us look at a plant and see its beauty in the leaves and flowers. Robert Kourik sees a whole other world of beauty below the surface of the soil. He knows that in order to have that beauty above ground you have to take care of the root system below ground.
In the late 1970's he wrote the now classic Designing and Maintaining Your Edible Landscape which, as his website states, "defined the genera of gardening now known as edible landscaping."
He has worked in the landscape construction, design, consultation, and education fields since the mid-1970's and writen numerous books and articles. He is an authority on the use of gray-water in the landscape and drip irrigation systems and wrote the gray-water ordinance for the City of Malibu, California.
Mr. Kourkic continues to learn by doing, and states "I'm still trying to graduate from the school of hard knocks."
