Director of Living Collections and Nursery, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
presented
California Natives for the Mixed Border
Gardens that embrace our Mediterranean climate are increasingly popular in California. This trend reflects a desire to create water-thrifty, regionally appropriate landscapes, and is motivating garden designers and home gardeners to reinvent traditional styles, such as the renowned perennial borders of Britain. Learn about new ideas for designing borders that offer year-round beauty, exuberant color, and bold texture with California native plants. The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is devoted to the study, display, and conservation of the native flora of California. In working with California native and Mediterranean plants for 25 years, Carol has experimented with innovative design applications, introduced new cultivars, and advocated for regionally appropriate landscaping through her writing and teaching. She is co-author of California Native Plants for the Garden which was released by Cachuma press in 2005.
